Visulize a career in Art and Design

A career in art goes beyond the painting, drawing and sculpting you may first think of.  In fact, graphic design is all around us, from company logos to product packaging, from new cell phone design to your favorite coffee cup.  Take a look around your office, home, or local grocery store. You can see elements of graphic design in just about everything.

Graphic design focuses on visual communication, and requires you have an eye for detail and a creative approach for tackling a problem.  Graphic designers have to think about how they use color, illustrations, and fonts.  In essence, a graphic designer makes something aesthetically pleasing, and yet functional.

When you begin your graphic design training, you’ll learn to use the latest design software and technology.  With software ever changing, and the growing importance of technology, you will need to be quick to adapt, in order have a successful career.

Additionally, you’ll learn common industry practices, and develop your design skills through hands on training.  In a world where everything seems to be automated by a computer, a designer with artistic sensibility, and a grasp of basic design elements, can be a valuable asset.

With the proper training, you’ll be able to work in a variety of industries, from corporate to industrial, and even advertising.  You can also work as a freelance artist for these and other industries.

You might wonder if graphic design is right for you.  Do you have a feel for color and composition?  Can you visually communicate your thoughts? Do you enjoy working with technology and software?  If so, a career in design might be a perfect fit for you.
